Research with the right tool

Distinguish searching the web from interacting with a browser or desktop.

Before you begin

A compatible Mellow build with the relevant capability configured.

01

Choose the smallest capability

For a factual question, start with search. Use browser interaction for a page workflow and computer access only when that task needs the native screen.

02

Finish setup

Review provider readiness, browser configuration and macOS permissions in the relevant settings. Enable the capability on the intended custom agent.

03

Check evidence

Ask the helper to name the page or result it used. For an action, inspect the destination and resulting state rather than relying only on the assistant’s summary.

Try it with a small task

Ask a research helper to locate an official product document and summarize it with a source link, without signing in or modifying anything.

If it does not work

  • A search result is not proof that a browser action completed.
  • Browser and computer capabilities may require separate permissions even when web search works.
