Before you begin
Compatible models and sufficient resources, or a supported provider account.
Choose a chat model
Use Local Models to manage downloads or Providers to configure remote access. Select a ready model in the conversation.
Prepare image work
Open Images and check model readiness. Generation and editing may need different compatible bundles.
Review resource needs
Check model size and memory requirements. Loading an image model may displace a resident chat model; follow the job’s progress and stop control.

Try it with a small task
Generate a small image with a ready model and inspect the completion card. Editing needs a model that supports image inputs.
If it does not work
- Model cannot load: check compatibility and available resources.
- Sign-in missing: authenticate the selected provider, not a different workspace service.
Good to know
- A Cloud workspace connection is not a replacement for a chat provider.
- Provider-based media may leave the device and incur provider charges. Local capabilities vary by installed model and runtime.
